MIAOLI (TVBS News) — A miniature horse startled drivers and pedestrians when it unexpectedly appeared on an expressway in Miaoli County, Taiwan, on Monday (June 24) around 11 a.m. The police quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and assist the owner in safely removing the animal.
The white and brown colored miniature horse had escaped from a nearby farm and wandered onto the expressway. Upon receiving the alert, the police promptly arrived at the scene. They initially used traffic cones to enclose the horse, providing a safe space until the owner arrived.
Equipped with reins, the owner secured the horse and safely returned it to the farm. The police stated that the situation was resolved in less than half an hour after the horse had broken free. Fortunately, the traffic was light then, and no accidents occurred due to the unexpected equine visitor.
The police urge residents to responsibly manage their pets and livestock to ensure the safety of people and vehicles. Violators of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act (道路交通管理處罰條例) may face fines of up to NT$600 for allowing animals to obstruct traffic.
