TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a recent survey conducted by Global Views Magazine at the end of May, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) emerged as the top performer among the mayors of Taiwan's six major municipalities.
The 2024 "Global Views City Governance Satisfaction Survey" (遠見縣市施政滿意度調查) revealed that Mayor Lu's satisfaction rating stood at 72.9%, marking a slight increase of 0.3 percentage points from the previous year.
Her governance score also rose by 0.5 points to 74.5, the highest among her peers and the highest record since the administrative reorganization 2011.
Following Mayor Lu, the mayors ranked from second to sixth were Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁), Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲), New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜), Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安), and Taoyuan Mayor Simon Chang (張善政), respectively.
Notably, Mayor Chiang's performance saw the most significant improvement among the six, with his satisfaction rating jumping by 13.1 percentage points to 59.4% and his governance score increasing by 2.8 points to 68.5.
This marked the lowest disapproval rating for a Taipei mayor since the reorganization, tying him with Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin (鍾東錦) for the "Most Improved Performance Award."
