TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A severe landslide occurred at the intersection of Beining Rd. (北寧路) and Chaojing Park (潮境公園) in Zhongzheng District, Keelung City, on Monday (June 3), trapping several vehicles and leaving the condition of casualties unknown. The incident took place at 2:28 p.m., causing significant distress in the area.

Rapid Response

 

The Keelung City Fire Department (基隆市消防局) was quick to dispatch rescue teams and divers to the scene. Additionally, officials from the Department of Public Works, Keelung City Government (基隆市工務處), the police department, local district offices, and the civil affairs office were present to assess the situation. Two cars were confirmed to be crushed under the debris, with drivers managing to escape. However, the full extent of the damage and any additional casualties are still being determined.

Eyewitness Accounts

An eyewitness jogging at the scene at 2:05 p.m. described a sudden shower of rocks falling, likening it to rain. Among the trapped vehicles was a taxi and a couple's sedan. The jogger alerted them to flee the dangerous situation. This account highlights the suddenness of the landslide.
