TAITUNG (TVBS News) — Taitung County's local tea brand, "Red Oolong," established in 2022, has been recognized with a silver award in packaging design at the MUSE Design Awards in the United States. The Department of Fiscal, Statistical and Financial Affairs presented the award to Taitung County Commissioner Yao Ching-ling on Thursday (May 2).
"Red Oolong" is one of the most representative industries in Taitung. The packaging design of the "Red Oolong" tea brand features the deer of its production area, Luye Township, including tea bags, small items, and gift boxes, all with different deer shapes.
The MUSE Design Awards, established in 2015, provide a stage for designers from all fields worldwide. "Red Oolong" stood out from over 5,000 entries to win the silver award, demonstrating Taitung's strong ability to combine local resources with marketing.
Yao Ching-ling pointed out that "Red Oolong" is a highly anticipated emerging specialty tea in Taiwan. Paired with the slow economy concept promoted by the county government in recent years, Yao hopes to enhance the regional cultural significance of Red Oolong, establish brand communication and consensus, and gradually step onto the international stage.
The recognition from the MUSE Design Awards has significantly boosted the visibility of Taitung's Red Oolong in the international market. Collaborations with Starlux Airlines and ezTravel have also provided platforms to showcase Taitung's beauty, attracting more visitors to the region.
