TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen and Doris Brougham, founder of Studio Classroom, met on Monday (April 29) to discuss their shared love for pets and their experiences with English education in Taiwan. Tsai's orange cat, A-tsai, and retired rescue dog, Lele, were also present for the meeting.
Brougham, an American-born broadcaster, has been prominent in Taiwan's English education scene since the 1960s. Her program, Studio Classroom, is widely recognized for its role in improving English proficiency among Taiwanese students.
Tsai expressed her gratitude to Brougham, a long-time friend, for her contributions to education over her 70-year tenure in Taiwan. Last year, Tsai delivered a passport to Brougham at Studio Classroom, welcoming her as a true Taiwanese citizen.
Tsai emphasized Brougham's love and dedication for Taiwan, stating that this country will always be her home. She added that they will continue to work together for the betterment of Taiwan in the future.
