TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A judge from the Shilin District Court was found dead on Friday (April 12) after falling from his residence in Taipei. Police have preliminarily ruled out any external intervention, and the exact cause is still under investigation.
Judicial Yuan President Hsu Tzong-li expressed regret over the incident and asked colleagues to assist in handling the aftermath.
The judge, surnamed Li, was mainly in charge of civil law, finance, and sexual assault matters. The judge had also worked very hard to promote the new civil judges system. He had served as an ambassador for campus promotional activities, leading students in mock court proceedings.
The chief judge of the Shilin District Court accompanied Li's family at the Tri-Service General Hospital to handle related matters, expressing deep sorrow.
The Shilin District Court is providing psychological support programs in an effort to avert the associated tragedy, and it hopes that colleagues will feel comfortable accessing them as needed.
