HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Wistron announced early Tuesday (March 26) that a fire at its Hsin-an factory the previous night had no significant impact on overall operations and finances, and no casualties were reported.
The fire, preliminarily determined to have originated from an outdoor air conditioning unit, affected only a small portion of production. The actual loss is still to be determined.
The company, which is fully insured against fire, reassured that the incident will not significantly impact its overall operations and finances. Wistron also pledged to enhance safety mechanisms within the factory.
Also affected by the fire, Young Optics Inc. issued a statement saying the company has full property and business interruption insurance. The actual loss is yet to be determined. The damaged factory has been temporarily shut down.
Young Optics stated that the top floor of the company is rented to Wistron. When the fire broke out, employees were swiftly and safely evacuated in strict adherence to disaster safety guidelines. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire department.
