TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taoyuan Lantern Festival concluded its festivities on Sunday (March 3), captivating visitors with a spectacular display of cultural performances and innovative art installations. The 12-day event, known for its vibrant dragon dances, lively music, and captivating circus acrobatics, marked a grand finale to the beloved festival.
Simon Chang, the Mayor of Taoyuan, highlighted the festival's expansive setup, connecting Nanchang Forest Sports Park and Hutou Mountain Park through the Taolin Line Bikeway. "We’re at Nanchang Forest Sports Park and Hutou Mountain Park this year. We’ve connected the two venues with the Taolin Line Bikeway, so we have two venues," Chang said.
This year's festival was divided into two main areas: the Nanchang Lantern Area, featuring mesmerizing light shows every half hour, and the Hutou Mountain Innovation Area, designed to enhance parent-child interactions with its creative offerings.
The Taoyuan Lantern Festival not only celebrated traditional Taiwanese culture but also embraced international modern art, laying the groundwork for the upcoming 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival.
Chou Po-yin, the Director of the Tourism Office in Taoyuan, expressed excitement about the festival's scale and immersive experience. "The upcoming Taoyuan Lantern Festival will be the biggest immersive experience for everyone," Chou stated. The festival's blend of art forms and its innovative approach to cultural celebration received widespread acclaim, promising an even grander spectacle in the years to come.
