TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued an orange signal cold surge advisory for New Taipei City, Keelung City, Taoyuan City, and Hsinchu County on Monday (Feb. 26). The advisory indicates the possibility of temperatures remaining around or below 10 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Lin Te-en predicts this cold wave is set to persist until Feb. 28.

According to Lin, as of this morning, the minimum temperature in the plains of municipalities including Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Lienchiang dropped below 10 degrees Celsius from the previous night. The reading at Taipei dipped to 11.5 degrees Celsius the day before at 9:40 p.m.

The chilling cold air will continue to impact Taiwan's northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, causing cooler temperatures in the early morning and evening in other areas. A rebound in the temperature is not expected till later this Wednesday.
