KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The two giant rubber ducks, created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, brought the exhibition in Kaohsiung to a close on Sunday (Feb. 25), with the city hosting a farewell party.
A large crowd attended the farewell event, which featured performances by the Neo-Classical Chamber Ensemble, the wind band from Jhong-Jheng Elementary School, and the Fushan Elementary School choir.
Visitors captured the moment with mobile phones while, at 6:10 p.m., workers began the process of moving the giant inflatable. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai and several representatives from the local community were present to bid farewell to the rubber ducks.
The exhibition in Kaohsiung lasted nearly 30 days, attracting more than 8 million visitors, and generating about NT$14 billion in tourism revenue for the city.
The beloved rubber duck has been touring the world since 2007, bringing its message of joy and peace to dozens of countries and hundreds of cities. Its visit to Taiwan marks another milestone in the duck's worldwide journey.
