TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih pledged on Thursday (Jan. 4) that if elected, he will establish an economic cabinet to address people's livelihood issues.
Accompanied by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, Hou visited Taipei's First Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market early in the day, mingling with local stall owners.
During his talk, Hou expressed his commitment to promoting market reforms, modernizing facilities, and enhancing cooperation between central and local authorities for better preservation and sale of fruits and vegetables.
Hou reiterated his promise that if elected, he would establish an economic cabinet to meet domestic livelihood needs and improve people's lives. His plan was met with enthusiasm by the stall owners, who took selfies with him and gifted him fruits, including pineapples and cherries.
As the presidential election draws near next Saturday, the candidates are on their final push to galvanize votes.
