TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, accompanied by running mate Hsiao Bi-khim, commenced their 10-day election campaign on Wednesday (Jan. 3).
This marks the eighth national campaign tour undertaken by Lai in this election cycle, with three additional circuits around the island planned for the critical final days.
Chen Shih-kai, spokesperson for Lai's campaign office, revealed that their last-ditch strategy encompasses engaging voters at over 1,000 intersections across all 22 municipalities in Taiwan.
Beginning on Wednesday evening in New Taipei City, Lai's hometown, the DPP will conduct 21 large-scale rallies as part of this campaign series.
This initiative will continue for ten days, concluding on the eve of the Jan. 12 election. The campaign will span both Tainan, where Lai initiated his political career, and New Taipei.
On Jan. 8, Lai and Hsiao will embark on a nationwide campaign sweep, with Lai commencing from Pingtung in the south and progressing northward, while Hsiao initiates her campaign in New Taipei, moving from north to south.
Both routes will converge in New Taipei and Taipei City on Jan. 12, where Lai and Hsiao will collaborate on their campaign efforts.
