TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je was emotionally overwhelmed while discussing his father during Saturday's presidential debate.
Ko Cheng-fa's aspirations for him was to be a hospital director.
The debate took a personal turn when Lai Ching-te, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate, accused Ko of undermining farmland values by converting purchased farmland into a parking lot.
Ko acknowledged his father's purchase of the land but clarified its agricultural purpose, stating, "That land is for agricultural use and not suitable to build a hospital."
He concluded by emphasizing the debate's focus should be on Taiwan's future, not his personal real estate matters.
