TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung's annual New Year's Eve celebration, featuring the E-DA Theme Park's renowned 999-second firework display, is set for Sunday (Dec. 31) at Time Avenue.
In anticipation, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government (TBKC) and the Kaohsiung City Police Department have devised comprehensive plans for traffic management and crowd control.
Traffic restrictions and temporary parking bans will be enforced from 3 p.m. tomorrow until 1:30 p.m. on New Year's Day for Kaohsiung's New Year's Eve event. All vehicular traffic and parking will be strictly prohibited, with authorities cracking down on illegal parking.
Starting at 11 p.m. tomorrow, a sweeping ban on both automobiles and motorcycles entering the city will be in effect for the E-DA World's fireworks extravaganza. From midnight to 1:20 a.m. on New Year's Day, only motorcycles and shuttle buses will be allowed to exit the city.
In response to the New Year's Eve festivities, the Kaohsiung City Government (KCG) has augmented its bus, metro, light rail, and railway services. Notably, the Kaohsiung Metro will expand Red Line services starting at 1:30 pm tomorrow, extending the operating hours for both the Red and Orange lines until 2 a.m. on New Year's Day.
Beginning at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Kaisyuan Jhonghua station and Dream Mall station of Kaohsiung's light rail service will suspend passenger services as part of crowd control measures.
