KMT VP Jaw vows to expand Taiwan's diplomacy (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) vice-presidential candidate Jaw Shaw-kong vowed on Monday (Dec. 25) to broaden Taiwan's diplomatic horizons if the KMT wins the upcoming elections.

Jaw criticized the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), alleging a loss of nine diplomatic allies during its eight-year tenure.

His remarks came during an event commemorating Constitution Day, held by the KMT's Department of International Affairs at Cosmos Hotel Taipei. Among the participants were KMT Chairman Eric Chu and KMT Vice Chairman Andrew Hsia.

Chu spoke in defense of Hsia, who he said was unfairly maligned of late and described as a valuable asset to the KMT. He appealed to media outlets to refrain from spreading misinformation.

During the same event, Hsia expressed his regret that young people have come to associate Dec. 25 solely with Christmas, overlooking its significance as Constitution Day in Taiwan.

Hsia vowed to restore the value of the Republic of China, as Taiwan is officially known, should the KMT prevail in the elections next year.
