TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) on Thursday (Nov. 8) instructed Lin Hsin-i (林信義), Taiwan's representative to the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, to convey three key proposals during the event in Lima, Peru. Lin, who will be accompanied by his daughter Lin Wen-hsien (林玟萱) following the passing of his wife two months ago, pledged to deliver these messages with dedication.

The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) will take place Nov. 15-16, focusing on the theme "Empowerment, Inclusion, Growth." During a press conference held a day earlier, President Lai expressed hope that Lin would emphasize Taiwan's contributions to international society, particularly in artificial intelligence and digital healthcare, support for a fairer international trade order, and willingness to promote digital trade with other economies.

Lin stated he would seize opportunities for bilateral exchanges to express Taiwan's commitment to mutual assistance, reciprocity, and complementarity with international community members. He aims to contribute to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, showcasing Taiwan as a trustworthy and responsible member of the global society, thereby garnering more international support.

Currently serving as chairman of Taiwania Capital Management Corporation (台杉投資管理顧問公司), Lin has participated in APEC events three times, including representing Taiwan at the AELM in Busan, South Korea, in 2005, and attending ministerial meetings in Brunei and Shanghai.
