TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice President Lai Ching-te, the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate, holds a narrow lead in the polls, closely followed by the Kuomintang (KMT) candidate, New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih, as per the latest poll published on Sunday (Dec. 24) by online news outlet My-formosa.com.
The 96th poll results for the 2024 presidential election from My-formosa.com indicate 37.5% support for Lai and his running mate Hsiao Bi-khim, 32.6% for Hou and his running mate Jaw Shaw-kong, and 16.3% for Taiwan People's Party's (TPP) Ko Wen-je and his running mate Cynthia Wu.
The latest poll results show a 4.9 percentage point difference between Lai and Hou, while a 16.3 percentage point gap separates Hou and Ko. According to Wu Tsu-chia, chairman of My-formosa.com, Lai began to regain ground after the scandal involving his family's property in Wanli, causing a slight dip in support for Hou and Ko.
The poll, funded by My-formosa.com, included questionnaire design and analysis by polling expert Tai Li-an, with telephone interviews conducted by Beacon Marketing and Research Co.
The survey covered all 22 municipalities nationwide and targeted individuals aged over 20. Conducted from Dec. 20 to 22, this was the 96th wave of the poll, using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) method.
Proportionate stratified random sampling was employed based on the Chunghwa Telecom residential phone book. Random digit dialing (RDD) helped mitigate the risk of missing unregistered numbers.
A total of 1,470 individuals were interviewed for this survey. At a 95% confidence level, the results have a maximum margin of error of ±2.6%.
