TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Responding to a surge in passenger numbers, Taoyuan Metro (TYMETRO) announced on Monday (Dec. 18) that it will add four extra train services during peak workdays starting this Friday.
These additional trains, comprising two express and two regular services, aim to reduce commuting time for passengers. With these additions, the total number of peak-hour trains on workdays will reach eleven. This marks TYMETRO's sixth round of increased services in 2023.
Since introducing extra train services on April 17, 2023, TYMETRO has consistently expanded the number of trips to better serve commuters. These efforts focus on providing more frequent services during the morning peak period, stopping at every station for northbound travelers.
The express trains, initially offering 12 trips to Huanbei Station, have been expanded with six additional services introduced on Aug. 1, Aug. 11, and the upcoming Dec. 22 services. This brings the total to 18 express trips, benefiting Taoyuan commuters traveling southbound to Taipei for a quicker commute.
