TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Delivery Hero, the parent company of Asia's top food delivery platform Foodpanda, announced on Monday (Dec. 18) that it will close its global tech hub in Taipei. Taiwan's Foodpanda reassured that this closure would not impact its operations in Taiwan.
A Reuters report a day earlier revealed that Delivery Hero had reduced its workforce by 13 percent at its Berlin headquarters due to diminishing investor confidence. Accordingly, the company also decided to shut down its Istanbul-based tech hub as part of a broader restructuring aimed at achieving efficient profitability and sustained growth.
Taiwan's Foodpanda stated that its parent company operates several other global tech hubs, all of which are part of the restructuring plan. It further clarified that the recent organizational changes will not affect the platform's operations or structure in Taiwan, and no staff members in Taiwan will be laid off as part of this restructuring.
