TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Kaohsiung Circular Light Rail's eastern loop is preparing for operations, with the Kaohsiung City Government's Transportation Bureau (TBKC) announcing the authorization of left turns at 10 intersections along the route on Sunday (Dec. 17).
To address driver concerns and maintain traffic flow in light of the new light rail service, the TBKC has reviewed traffic regulations and chosen to permit left turns at 10 out of the 33 junctions along Dashun Road.
To minimize the impact on through traffic, vehicles making left turns will be directed to stay to the right about 50 meters upstream from the intersections, avoiding the offset left-turn design.
Additionally, the TBKC has informed the public of forthcoming changes in signal timing and settings on main roads around the light rail, including Dashun Road, Jiangong Road, Dafeng Road, and Dachang Road. These adjustments aim to align with actual traffic flow, with ongoing assessments to fine-tune the timing as necessary, according to the TBKC.
