TAIPEI (TVBS News) — According to the latest survey released Sunday (Nov. 26) by the Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation (TPOF), the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) has surged to become the largest party with a 25.3% support rate.

This figure narrowly surpasses the Kuomintang (KMT), which garnered 24.8%, and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) at 24.5%. The TPP's support has increased dramatically by 8.3% in the past month, while the DPP and KMT have experienced declines of 2.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

In repsonse to media inquiries, TPOF Chairman Michael You stated that this poll marks a historic first in Taiwan's party politics, as less than one percentage point now separates the three parties. He emphasized that the TPP has become the "largest party in terms of polls," signifying a remarkable evolution in the political landscape.

You also noted that over the past month, a "Blue-White alliance" has been gaining traction, as the majority hopes for a change in the ruling party. With political scenarios of unity and division between the Blue and White camps unfolding, the TPP has clearly benefited the most.

With the 2024 presidential election just over a month away, Taiwan's party competition has entered an unprecedented phase where the three parties stand on almost equal footing.

Other political parties, such as the New Power Party (NPP) and Taiwan Statebuilding Party (TSP), received 2.9% and 1% support respectively. Minor parties garnered 1.8%, 19.1% of respondents did not express support for any party, and 0.7% were undecided or refused to answer.

The poll, conducted from Nov. 19-21, surveyed adults aged 20 and over nationwide, using a dual-frame random sampling method incorporating both landlines and mobile phones.
