TAIPEI (TVBS News) — AU Optronics Corp (AUO) Chief Financial Officer Benjamin Tseng said on Tuesday (Oct. 31) that the company's capital expenditures are likely to be revised downward to around NT$30 billion for 2023.
According to Tseng, this revision represents a decrease of NT$5 billion, or 14.3%, from AUO's initial capital expenditure target of NT$35 billion set at the beginning of 2023.
The CFO also noted the capacity utilization rate of AUO reached approximately 80% in the third quarter of this year but expects this rate to fall slightly in the final quarter.
As the company spent NT$900 million on capital expenditures in the third quarter, the reduction for the entire year reflects AUO's adjustments amid challenging market conditions in the global electronics industry.
