TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an inaugurated the long-awaited Taipei Dome on Friday (Oct. 27).
Chiang, along with Deputy Mayors Lee Shu-chuan and Lin Yi-hua and several Taipei City government officials, inspected the Dome, stating that improvements to the seats, field, and other facilities were complete.
The Dome is set to hold two test matches in November, followed by the Asian Baseball Championship in December.
The Farglory Group, the Dome's developer, said that over 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the test matches on November 18. The Taipei Highwealth Baseball Team is among the teams invited to participate, with player feedback hoped to optimize the venue further.
In response to concerns that the color of the seats might affect players' vision, Chiang clarified that he would coordinate with Farglory to add seat covers to solve the issue.
Chiang expressed his gratitude to then Premier Hau Pei-tsun, who provided assistance during the construction phase and the efforts of every Taipei mayor since.
