TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — The 6th Precinct Police Department in Taichung City is investigating a fraud case that targeted students from Feng Chia University and Tunghai University.

The fraud unfolded in Taichung City's Xitun District, where a man by the surname of Lin, posing as a telecommunications salesman, swindled millions from students.

Lin specifically preyed on students from Feng Chia University and Tunghai University. He reportedly promised them NT$5,000 in cash if they purchased electronics, applied for a cellphone, and signed up for a cardless installment loan.

However, after completing these tasks, the students received no products and were continually harassed for payment. Since the beginning of October, more than 100 students have reported being deceived in the same way.

Media reported that the total amount defrauded could exceed NT$10 million, and the relevant schools have already been informed of the situation. Currently, the 6th Precinct and The District Prosecutors Office are pursuing this case and have collected relevant data as they continue to investigate further.
