TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Chou Yu-hsiu, the campaign director of Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je, unexpectedly confirmed on Thursday (Oct. 19) that he has officially submitted his resignation from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after being a party member for 20 years.
Chou first joined Ko's team in May 2017 and found himself influenced by the "upright, diligent, public-serving spirit of the squad," resulting in his decision to stay with Ko's team.
Despite his departure from ruling DPP, Chou stressed he is "not leaving Taiwan" and vowed to continue to work along the path of integrity, diligence, and love for his homeland.
Chou said in a press briefing: "I have not registered to become a member of the TPP yet, but I will join the party shortly."
