TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential Candidate Lai Ching-te proposed his three housing policies again at the "National Real Estate Industry Lai Ching-te Support Association" on Sunday (Aug. 27).
These policies include expanding home purchasing loans for young people, nationwide tax reform to increase differential rates, and further constructing social housing to satisfy one million units of rental demand in Taiwan.
Lai also plans to promote urban renewal and review the "one ping (a Taiwanese unit of area) per ping" policy in the hopes of finding a new solution for those unsatisfied with the current urban renewal progression.
Chang Shih-fang, the convener of the association expressed approval of Lai's policies and highlighted the crucial role of the real estate industry in economic development.
By initiating urban renewal, Lai envisions an increase in construction safety and an improved environment, thus stimulating the domestic economy.
Recognizing the issue of escalating housing prices, Lai empathizes with the concerns of the youth and reitereated President Tsai Ing-wen's committment in attaining fairness as the main focus of the policies.
