TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih and Foxconn Founder Terry Gou departed for Kinmen on Tuesday (Aug. 22) for the 65th anniversary of the August 23 Artillery Bombardment, a significant historical event for Taiwan.
The event will be commemorated on Wednesday (Aug. 23) and both Hou and Gou will be in attendance.
Meanwhile, Gou reached Kinmen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and is set to attend a mainstream public opinion alliance event supported by Kinmen Council Speaker Hung Yun-tien. The business tycoon then plans to visit Lieyu Sanxuan Temple on Lesser Kinmen Island tonight.
Both will attend the official ceremony commemorating the Artillery Bombardment anniversary on August 23. Before the ceremony, Hou will make an offering at the Wu Dao Cheng Huang Miao temple. Following the ceremony, Hou will visit the Tianpu Reservoir and Kinmen Distillery.
Gou has a speech scheduled at the Kinmen County Council's audio-visual room on the 23rd. After his speech, at 11:20 a.m., he plans to take a boat around Dadan Island.
