TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR) introduced on Friday (Aug. 18) a new themed train adorned with beloved cartoon characters designed by Japanese illustrator Kanahei.
This themed train project marks the second collaboration between THSR and Kanahei to make train rides more enjoyable and boost profits. You can now find the famous characters of Kanahei's Piske and Usagi on the train's exterior and inside the cars.
The train's theme revolves around four types of flowers: cherry blossom, sunflower, hydrangea, and calla lily. These flower themes and Kanahei's famous cartoon characters create a lively and eye-catching design.
The company and Kanehei also released various co-branded items, including pull-back trains, scarves, card holders, bags, and bottled water.
In addition, THSR has also introduced exclusive travel packages. Highlighting its sustainable features, THSR hopes that the new train can further drive a trend in rail tourism.
In 2019, THSR unveiled a train featuring Kanahei's famous cartoon characters, which received enthusiastic responses from the public. THSR's previous decision to partner with Kanahei paid off with the significant profit achieved four years ago, surpassing NT＄60 million.
The railway company expects to generate more than double the previous profits this time.
