TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office on Friday (Aug.11) indicted Lin Sheng-che, head of Best Style Safety Industrial Co., for fraud.
Since August 2020, the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, began upgrading bulletproof vests for seven prisons nationwide. They carried out a purchase case with Best Style Safety which awarded the contract in December last year.
Lin presented approval documents of bulletproof vests from previous contracts as authentication for the agency's inspection and unlawfully profited by NT$1,1903,780. But those actions prompted an investigation by the Agency Against Corruption and exposed Lin's fraud.
Despite the action against him, Lin has denied the crime and refused to cooperate and deliver the company's bulletproof vests for inspection. After examining the case, the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office believes that Lin, to profit by winning the contract, submitted different project test reports as one, disregarding the safety of law enforcement officials, a grave crime.
Given Lin's uncooperative attitude, the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office charged him with fraud, and the presiding judge has been urged to mete out a heavy punishment.
