TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following the cancellation of work and classes in Taipei, New Taipei City, Keelung, and Yilan County due to Typhoon Khanun, KTV chains in the Greater Taipei area experienced a surge in bookings on Wednesday (Aug. 3).
Reports indicate that many people took advantage of the day off on Thursday by reserving KTV rooms. Some internet users have reported difficulties making phone calls as the lines were busy.
While Taiwanese people typically visit malls or movie theaters during mild weather, many shopping centers in the Greater Taipei area, including Taipei 101, decided to close for the day.
Also, local governments suspended food delivery services to ensure the safety of delivery drivers. Violators may be subject to a fine of NT$100,000 according to the Taipei City Self-government Ordinance for Management of Delivery Platform Operators.
