TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As Typhoon Doksuri approaches Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) expects it to bring heavy rains and strong winds, which could lead to widespread travel disruptions.

Many Taiwanese passengers are concerned about potential flight cancellations as Typhoon Doksuri nears the island. A travel expert advises travelers to retain all documents as proof of cancellations or delays and suggests purchasing travel insurance to prepare for unexpected situations.

According to the Civil Aeronautics Administration's regulations, the airline and the captain are responsible for deciding whether to fly the plane. When considering flight cancellations, factors like wind speed and the airport's workload must be taken into account.

The airlines will hold meetings to discuss their plans for the typhoon. The arrival of foreign flights to Taiwan may experience delays, and incoming flights to Taiwan could be rerouted. Also, departing aircraft be redirected to other airports to avoid the typhoon's path.

While canceling flights during a typhoon poses the lowest safety risk, it gives rise to subsequent challenges in passenger transportation, affecting people's itineraries.

A travel expert emphasizes that most hotels will allow you to cancel reservations for free if you provide relevant proof. Thus, passengers must keep all documents related to cancellations or delays.

Purchasing travel insurance is another essential safeguard for travelers in unforeseen situations.
