TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice President Lai Ching-te participated in the "Green Finance, Work Towards Net Zero" event on Thursday (July 20). The event is part of President Tsai Ing-wen's effort to achieve net zero emissions nationwide by 2050, focusing on promoting the transition to net zero in the agriculture sector.

Climate change was highlighted as a crucial factor driving the initiative, as it affects the environment, economy, and society. Agriculture, responsible for approximately 30% of global carbon emissions, was identified as a critical area for the transition to net zero, aligning with President Tsai Ing-wen's goals.

The government has committed to investing NT$900 billion by 2030 to support the net-zero emissions transition project. This event is a significant milestone in Taiwan's sustainable future and demonstrates the country's commitment to addressing climate change.
