TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan's military simulated an attack from enemy forces on Taoyuan Airport and Taoyuan Refinery on Monday (July 10) before the annual Han Kuang exercises.
At Taoyuan Refinery, red-colored smoke filled the air as military personnel rehearsed defense strategies against an attack from invaders.
During the simulation, OH-58D Kiowa helicopters were spotted with red paint on the side to play the part of enemy forces. In addition to that, mock enemy agents were transported using Apache and Black Hawk helicopters.
Fire trucks and ambulances were also present during the drills at the Refinery as the exercise simulated enemy forces taking over the industrial plant to cripple Taiwan's energy sources.
The military reported that the drills at Taoyuan Airport went smoothly. However, the 30-minute exercise impacted approximately ten flights during the early morning hours, preventing planes from taking off or landing at the international airport.
As cross-strait tensions continue to rise, Taiwan's military forces are doing all they can to ensure its combat readiness and protect the nation.
