TAIPEI (TVBS News) — KYMCO made significant announcements on Monday (June 19), highlighting a substantial increase in the expansion of the Ionex brand's battery-swapping network and unveiling plans to upgrade all KYMCO dealers to KYMCO-Ionex dealers by 2025.

In an exclusive interview with TVBS, Allen Ko, chairman of KYMCO, provided insights into the company's future roadmap as it approaches its 60th anniversary next year. Having achieved its goal of constructing 2,600 battery swapping stations this year, six months ahead of schedule, Ko emphasized KYMCO's commitment to developing a comprehensive ecosystem with the Ionex EV total solution.

He said: "We have been trying to develop the whole system so we can be the top choice for all our customers." The recent inauguration of a station at the Hehuanshan Visitor Center, situated at an elevation of 3,158 meters in central Taiwan, marked a significant milestone for KYMCO.

Another notable accomplishment for the company is the ambitious plan to upgrade all KYMCO dealers to accommodate internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles and EVs by 2025.

This initiative aims to meet the growing market demand. Ko outlined the strategy, saying, "We expect to see 200 stores become KYMCO Ionex dealers by the end of this year, and in two years, we are planning to cover all our 1,700 stores to become the KYMCO Ionex store, where they can sell and service both the ICE motorcycles and the electric motorcycles."

Ko also expressed optimism about KYMCO Ionex's global expansion, as companies from Southeast Asia have displayed interest in introducing EVs to their markets. He emphasized the importance of finding feasible and commercially viable approaches to introducing Ionex in these countries.

KYMCO's brand philosophy, "Win my heart," prioritizes customers' needs. Ko explained that building an extensive battery-swapping network in Taiwan is crucial in ensuring customers have peace of mind regarding range anxiety.

Moving forward, KYMCO will focus on enhancing customer service and user experience. Ko emphasized the importance of easy accessibility to battery swapping stations, ensuring customers always have access to fully charged batteries.
