TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Social media influencer Ili Cheng addressed speculation about her potential candidacy for a legislative seat in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) at an event held in Taipei on Friday (May 26).
Reports indicate that Cheng is considering running for a legislative seat in January 2024 under the DPP banner. While awaiting an official invitation, she again conveyed her willingness to represent even Kinmen, emphasizing her flexibility with a smile.
Despite online criticism regarding her potential candidacy, Cheng lightheartedly likened herself to a sandbag in a recent Facebook post. She humorously remarked, "I can only wear a smile while enduring the blows, resembling a sandbag."
She expressed her enthusiasm for the prospect of running as a candidate, so Cheng mused, "If given the opportunity, perhaps we can incorporate mini sandbags as campaign symbols."
