TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice President Lai Ching-te, the Democratic Progressive Party's 2024 Presidential Election hopeful, presented his policy platform to supporters during a Presbyterian Church event on Tuesday (April 18).
Lai stressed the importance of choosing between democracy and autocracy during this crucial time. "In the future, I hope to focus on boosting the economy, protecting democracy, strengthening national defense, and maintaining peace," he stated.
Although Lai had previously identified himself as a "pragmatic worker for Taiwan independence," he now plans to follow in President Tsai Ing-wen's footsteps to maintain the status quo. This shift in stance has raised concerns among some of his supporters.
