TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated that China is imposing a no-fly zone and banning ships in northern Taiwan on Sunday (April 16) due to falling rocket debris.

China is scheduled to launch a weather satellite on Sunday, which will affect the fly zone and sea area in the northern region of Taiwan.

The no-fly zone will last for 27 minutes, from 9:30 a.m. until 9:57 a.m., while ships will be banned from the area for six hours, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

In total, 33 flights will be affected, including international flights from Japan, South Korea, and the U.S.

Experts have expressed concerns that this blockage is more serious than previous ones, as in the past, China left a small portion for planes to fly through, but not this time.
