NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Mayor Hou You-yi has kept his electoral promise and opened the 120th public childcare center in New Taipei City on Monday (Jan. 16).
The mayor plans to open more centers and increase subsidies to reduce the burden on parents. The latest seven public childcare centers can accommodate 295 babies up to 2 years old.
Many childcare centers in New Taipei have opened in old school buildings or idle spaces to save costs. Hou also said that the newly built structures would also use some space for public childcare centers.
