CHANGHUA (TVBS News) — The odds of a couple having eight matching numbers on their Taiwanese ID cards is about one in 100 million. This couple found that their ID card numbers were almost identical on their first few dates, proving that they are a perfect match.
"My wife asked 'why is your ID number the same as mine? How did you know my numbers?'" Lukang Town mayor candidate Shih Yu-hsuan recalled, "and I told her this is my ID number."
A Taiwanese ID card has three sections. The first is a letter based on the person's address, the second number indicates the gender, and the last eight numbers identify the person.
