TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Living in a fancy residential building may sound like a luxury, but you shouldn't forget the expensive community management fees associated with it.
The Palace Mansion is a famous mansion-style apartment community in Taipei that comes with top management fees totaling US$2,562,172 (NT$80 million) each year, according to Mirror Media reports.
The residents at the Palace Mansion pay the community management fee, which ranges from US$1,281 (NT$40K) to US$2,083 (NT$65K) per month based on the size of their home.
Residents reportedly accused the management committee of providing unclear spending statements. They told the news agency that the committee spent US$237,001 (NT$7.4M) on furniture for the community lounge.
The residents also pointed out that the committee spends US$70,498 (NT$2.2 million) every year on Christmas and New Years decorations, which they think can be reused.
Experts pointed out that if there are money-related issues, the last solution would be for the residents to sue the committee. Residents can also participate more in the management committees to avoid profit-making and other related illegal activities in the future.
The Palace Mansion's management committee didn't respond to comment.
