Typhoon Muifa brings heavy rainfalls to Taiwan

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — "The ground is slippery. Walk slowly and be careful," the firefighter said. Rescue workers carefully take each step as they carry an injured 73-year-old woman, who slipped and is now in so much pain that she can not walk alone.
  

"The 73-year-old female fell while walking, causing a fracture to the bone in her right thigh. She needs to go to the hospital," Ke Liang-hsi, head of the Meishan Branch of the Chiayi County Police Bureau, added. On Sunday, this woman went hiking on the Qingnianling Trail in Meishan Mountain, located in Chiayi, along with a group of hikers. 
 

However, due to the typhoon, there was heavy rainfall in the mountainous regions, which made the pathways extremely slippery. The 73-year-old accidentally fell and fractured her leg. Typhoon Muifa has brought heavy rainfall to the northern and northeastern parts of the country, and the peripheral circulation is also affecting the central and southern parts of Taiwan.

As we see, in Nanzhuang, Miaoli, heavy rain continued in the early morning of Sept. 13, causing boulders to collapse and block the roadways. "The giant boulder collapsed onto the road, disrupting traffic. Children couldn't get to school in the morning because the school buses were stuck on the road," said Yang Wen-chang, councilor of Miaoli County. 

According to the Central Weather Bureau, while typhoon Muifa could slowly leave Taiwan on Tuesday night, another typhoon will likely form in the region. A new tropical depression has developed in the Western Pacific about 1,800 km east of Taiwan, which could become a tropical storm in the next 24 hours. However, that storm is heading for Kyushu, Japan, and should not affect Taiwan.
