Taiwan weather update: Showers in the north, warm elsewhere (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported Tuesday (April 16)that a weak front remains over the northern sea of Taiwan, slightly increasing humidity. Brief showers are expected in the north and Yilan and Hualien, while other regions will see mainly sunny to cloudy skies. Afternoon showers may occur in mountainous areas.

Daytime temperatures are expected to be warm and muggy, with highs generally reaching 30 to 33 degrees Celsius. Mountainous areas in the south could see temperatures up to 36 degrees. The CWA advised the public to take precautions against strong ultraviolet rays around noon and to stay hydrated. Lows across the country will range from 23 to 25 degrees.

Visibility in Kinmen and Matsu may be affected by localized fog or low clouds, potentially impacting travel. Travelers are advised to check flight information due to the prolonged impact.

The CWA also warned of frequent aftershocks and a higher chance of rain in mountainous areas. Unless necessary, people are advised to avoid these areas. Those traveling through these regions should be alert and take protective measures, watching for loose soil, landslides, collapses, and falling rocks.

The Ministry of Environment's air quality forecast shows that conditions remain on the edge of a stagnant front with a southwestern wind. Due to weak wind speeds, the country's western half may see poor diffusion conditions and a slight accumulation of pollutants.
