KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — As the Lunar New Year approaches, the bustling kitchens of Kaohsiung's catering chefs are a symphony of sizzling pans, mouthwatering aromas, and dishes ready for delivery.

Catering chefs report a 10% surge in orders compared to last year, attributed to the pandemic easing and more individuals planning to reunite with their families in their hometowns.

According to one chef, his business began accepting orders as early as October last year to meet the heightened demand.

Several chefs reveal they now receive hundreds of orders daily, and in the days leading up to the Chinese New Year, they are tasked with delivering thousands of dishes in a single day.

Another establishment notes a significant increase in orders, with last year's 8,000 orders rising to 10,000 this year, representing a 10% boost.

Additionally, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of individuals opting for self-pickup, increasing from 500 last year to 800 this year, signaling a growing trend of people returning to their hometowns for the New Year celebrations.

The surge in demand for Lunar New Year dishes reflects the palpable festive spirit of the season.
