TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2024 elections approach their final stage, and Taiwan's political scene is witnessing a unique development. The Kuomintang (KMT), one of the major parties in the fray, has launched a new campaign strategy against its opponents.
KMT Chairman Eric Chu introduced the "KMT girls" campaign group on Jan. 3, a move aimed at empowering women in the political sphere. This group, comprising 13 female election hopefuls, including legislative-at-large nominees, marks a significant step in KMT's efforts to garner more votes.
The "KMT girls" group has brought a new dynamism to the party's campaign. Liu Tsai-wei, spokesperson for the presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih, praised the group for its passion and energy, likening it to the warmth of summer.
Meanwhile, KMT spokesperson Yang Chih-yu emphasized the pivotal role of women in politics, expressing hope that the group's presence will resonate with the community.
With the election scheduled for Jan. 13, the KMT's focus is on rallying support among various voter demographics. Chu highlighted the group's objective to boost support for the Hou-Jaw ticket, targeting female, middle of the road, and young voters.
He said this initiative reflects the KMT's determination to influence the election outcome through a powerful, woman-led campaign.
