Cynthia Wu slams MOFA over COP28 diplomacy (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Cynthia Wu, vice presidential candidate of the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), expressed disappointment with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Wednesday (Dec. 20) for its handling of the country's diplomatic challenges during COP28.
While participating in the COP28 global stocktake report analysis and discussion seminar, Wu mentioned receiving messages of support from legislators of various political parties amid her ongoing discussions with MOFA.
She reiterated her stance from last Thursday's Legislative Yuan inquiry session, emphasizing the need for the government to concurrently focus on improving the economy and diplomacy.
Wu stressed that her suggestions aimed to be constructive rather than critical. She also noted the recent EU consensus to start negotiations on bilateral free trade agreements with Taiwan, attributing this progress to the joint efforts of MOFA, the Legislative Yuan, and herself in raising Taiwan's international profile.
