TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expressed gratitude for the joint statement issued by G7 member countries on Wednesday (Dec. 6), emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
The G7 called for a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues and condemned any attempts to alter the status quo through force or coercion during a video conference.
MOFA pointed out China's military expansion in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, highlighting the significant threat it poses to Indo-Pacific security, a concern shared by the international community.
Throughout the year, various international statements, including those from the Japan-U.S. Summit, the Hiroshima G7 Leader's Summit, the Camp David Trilateral Summit involving Japan, the U.S., and South Korea, and the Japan-France Business Summit, have reiterated the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
Recognizing Taiwan's pivotal role in the Indo-Pacific, MOFA reaffirmed its commitment to cooperation with G7 in strengthening global democratic alliances to address challenges posed by authoritarianism.
