Taiwan captures 400 iguanas overnight, sparks online buzz (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A remarkable 400 green iguanas were captured in a single night in southern Taiwan, igniting discussions online after images were shared on Sunday (Dec. 10).
One photo, in particular, has garnered significant attention, featuring a green iguana appearing to kneel before a Mazu temple in Neipu, Pingtung.
This unusual sight prompted humorous comments suggesting the iguana's "application to be a divine steed." However, experts clarified that while green iguanas are harmless to humans, they pose a threat to crops, causing concerns for farmers.
To address the ecological imbalance and agricultural issues, the government has intensified efforts to remove these non-native creatures.
