TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chimei Museum in Tainan unveiled on Monday (Nov. 20) a memorial wall honoring the late Shi Wen-long, founder of the Chimei Group, which swiftly attracted numerous tributes within just minutes of its opening.

Shi, who passed away on Saturday at 96, was commemorated by visitors who left messages of condolence and expressed their sadness on the wall located at the museum's main entrance. Many visitors also paid homage to Shi's extensive contributions to Taiwan "soft power" in areas such as culture, education, healthcare, and the arts.

In line with Shi's own saying, "When I pass, don't build a tomb for me, hold a concert for me," his family has decided not to publish an obituary or hold a memorial ceremony, respecting his last wishes.

The Chimei Museum is scheduled to close on Dec. 1 and 2 for a private memorial concert in Shi's honor. This event is a testament to the high esteem in which the late businessman and philanthropist was held, as evidenced by the public's swift and heartfelt tributes, and it underscores the enduring impact of his legacy.
