Taiwan anticipates AI boom after ’AI Godfather’ visit (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan anticipates the return of "AI Godfather" Jensen Huang in mid-October for Hon Hai Tech Day 2023, following his visit in May to promote artificial intelligence (AI).
Though the NVIDIA CEO refrained from commenting on rumors of his return, his earlier trip to Taipei in May and participation at COMPUTEX highlighted his support for standout tech companies such as Mediatek, Quanta's Cloud Technology, and Supermicro.
The visit launched the island's mass AI-mania, with NVIDIA partnering with Taiwanese manufacturers across several areas like motherboards, AI servers, and electric vehicles, leading to a hefty surge in the stock prices of associated supply chains.
Huang's itinerary, including a speech at the National Taiwan University graduation ceremony and a night market tour, also received much public attention.
Although his return in mid-October remains unconfirmed, Hon Hai's share price reflects market expectations. Friday's opening price saw an increase of NT$2, reaching a peak of NT$105.5, a rise of 1.5%.
In his upcoming visit, Huang will likely renew the enthusiasm for AI and electric vehicle supply chains.
