Embrace AI revolution, says Quanta CEO Barry Lam (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Barry Lam, Quanta founder and CEO, emphasized the necessity to "dance with AI" during an address on Wednesday (Sept. 27).
While participating in the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association's AI Technology and Application Outlook Forum, Lam noted that the tech industry is currently grappling with the revolutionary changes brought on by AI technology and digital transformation.
Lam pointed out the surge of supercomputing strength in graphics processing units (GPUs). He observed that countries worldwide and major tech giants are all vigorously vying for a chunk of the AI market.
For Lam, the future is clear, "AI power equates to national strength," and victory lies with whoever can create the strongest AI.
The tech mogul noted that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su had recently visited Taiwan.
Lam believes there are plenty of opportunities in Taiwan's supply chains, such as semiconductor foundry, IC design, and chip supply.
He pointed out that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) isn't the only player in the game. The prospects for Taiwan's industry in the AI tech revolution are broad and varied, going beyond the usual suspects.
Lam's address underscores the significance of synergy between AI and different sectors to leverage this unfolding tech revolution.
